Let me tell you the things that I loved about this book. For me, I saw a lot of really great allusions to some classics and I nod the author for his workmanship. I think that there is more than a little evidence to support the idea that Taralisu is a contemporary version of Dorian Grey in that he is obsessed with aestheticism and art for arts sake. I would go so far to say that his two subordinate characters are mirrors of the Syble Vane the female actor who kills herself after Dorian breaks off their engagement and Mr. Collins the contemporary of Lord Henry the morally empty puppeteer of Dorian.That being said, this is not Dorian Grey.
I would say that it is closer to Hanable Lector but I like Lector better. The killings in here are at some times wildly graphic and other times reserved. Sometimes they are sadistic and evil and other times they are forgettable.
Overall, this is a good first work and I hope the author continues exploring classics and attempts to bring them into the 21st century.

It was a great book! The novel had amazing pacing and really inspired me as an artist! A few typos, but that was my only complaint!
Great book! Way underrated.
What may have been a compelling story is grossly overshadowed by the over-written, too clever, and grammatically erroneous style of writing. I'll try this author again in ten years.
So, basically, Taralisu is a thriller novel following a guy named Jack Dawson. Anyway, he becomes a serial killer. Seems pretty normal right? Not at all! He's really unique for a serial killer. It kind of reminds me of Dexter. Going on, you meet some interesting characters (my favorite being Mr. Collins, a poetry loving, bald Hawaiian hitman). The real conflict in the first half is between him and Detective Lubowski, who discovered all life to be mathematical and therefore feels nothing anymore. Jack, on the other hand, is trying to prove something beyond mathematics. Kind of like "soul" versus "non-soul."
This is a FANTASTIC novel. There's nothing else out by Tullis yet, so from what I can tell it's his debut book. If you're looking for a new author, give this a shot. It's a really satisfying read.

Taralisu offers an interesting psychological look at our society where too often we are burdened by our own apathy. And in the end, even the avenging angel who challenges Jack finds himself irrevocably changed.

this is a great first work and I hope the author continues exploring classics and attempts to bring them into the 21st century
i cant believe that this book isnt a popular book as some others. I got it free from kindle and was just amazed in how spectacular this book is. I'm not a huge fan of thrillers but once in a while i get the urge to be scared and this one definitely made me keep my lights on. Its a psychological thriller that almost makes u feel sorry for the serial killer bc obviously he is a very confused young man and the sad part about it so his girlfriend, and the detectice that brings him down. But what really disturbing about the book is what happens years later with the followers of taralisu bc i believe there r people that actually r so backwards in their thinking that they do the things they did. There r so many wow factors in this book that i couldnt put it down. And i hope that he continues to write bc he has a fan in me and i look forward to his next book. I hope readers dont sleep on this author
